Including complete newcomers will rapidly be climbing sheltered Peak District outcrops on this weekend session. Participants will learn securing the rope, safety techniques and several climbing techniques, as well as abseiling down. This historic hillside village, a ancient town in Andalucía, approximately a short drive from Granada, is the breathtaking backdrop for this art retreat. Painters of all abilities – including beginners – will learn how to design and produce modern art. Part of the schedule will be spent outdoors, working on guided exercises out in nature. These sketches and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the studio, with guests completing a number of interpretive scenes in acrylics to be displayed in the village. The group has sole use of the venue, which is built around an central patio and has a roof terrace with panoramic vistas over the hills. This sun-drenched culinary holiday, located at a riverside villa in the inland Portuguese region, is draws inspiration from the vegetarian dishes of celebrated cooks. Participants will master the art of selection of small dishes, take part in a falafel-making workshop, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. The schedule includes visits to the village market and a local vineyard to taste Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for walks by the nearby river, to unwind on the deck or take a dip in the pool. This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive weekend adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The daily schedule each day is a high-energy warm-up session, followed by three 90-minute workshops covering various urban dance forms, then an hour-long freestyle session to show off those solos. Participants are divided into groups according to skill level, so it is perfect for those who are brand new to popping and locking, all the way to experienced performers or teachers. Writer and lecturer Greg Mosse leads the regular sessions on this authors' getaway. He covers topics including story structure, characters, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to publishers. Greg’s wife, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the beginning and end of the week. The retreat is held at a traditional complex in Vamos at the foot of the Lefka Ori – ten one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a central garden with a pool (non-writing partners are welcome to come along). On the final evening, aspiring writers mark the occasion with a concert in the garden and a farewell dinner.

The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a wide range of programs covering sustainability: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. This two-day introduction will help participants understand the basics of beekeeping, explore the biology of bees and learn about their ecological importance. This course is also a chance to de-stress in the organization's sustainably managed woodlands, which are habitat for wildlife, otters, dormice, bats and uncommon bird species. They are aimed at adult beginners learning the ropes or those with some knowledge who want a skills update.
