A Wildlife Rescue Center
An adolescent female lion rescued from war-torn the war zone has undergone critical oral operation to remove a badly decayed canine tooth caused by an infection.
Lira was brought to a wildlife sanctuary in Smarden, Kent on 14 March after a campaign by managing director Cam Whitnall, who raised half a million pounds to support her and several other lions from Ukraine.

The procedure was performed on Friday by dentist Peter Kertesz, who has cared for hundreds of large felines.
"Upon inspecting Lira's jaw and mouth, I could see right away the damaged fang was highly inflamed," said the dentist.
He believed the dental issue was due to a injury experienced more than a year ago, leading to bacteria producing harmful substances within the fang.
"My philosophy is non-human oral health issues should be addressed in the safest, the least invasive and safest way," he explained.
Mr Kertesz explained that as Lira did not need to catch prey, removal was the most "sensible and ethical solution."

The rescue center said the removed fang was 3.14 inches in length, with Mr Kertesz having to extract a pocket of pus from under the fang and close the significant opening with seven dissolving sutures.
He also performed a root canal treatment on the corresponding top fang, which was also found to be infected.
The curator, manager at The Big Cat Sanctuary, said the operation was a "complete success."
She noted the team had observed "a minor swelling on Lira's jawline" but it had been impossible to assess "how serious the condition was."
"Lira will be somewhat sore to initially, but now that the infectious materials are removed from her system, she will start to feel much better over the next few days," added the curator.
The successful surgery represents a significant step in the lioness's healing process after her rescue from Ukraine.
