Individual That Touched Ariana Grande during Film Launch Barred from Singapore

An Australian man that leaped past a barrier and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been sent away and barred from Singapore.

The man, aged 26, was given a sentence to over a week in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed news outlets.

Wen pushed past photographers and rushed toward the actress and singer, who was attending the regional launch for Wicked: For Good on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

The individual has a record of disrupting concerts and high-profile gatherings, including rushing the stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in the past June.

The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with many accusing him of causing further distress to the star.

The pop star has discussed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her concert in the UK city in May 2017 killed over twenty people and injured hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the movie's debut twice, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Event security intercepted him and held him in place.

Wen later posted video clips thanking Grande for permitting his access and said he was "released."

Police took him into custody the subsequent day and charged him with disorderly conduct, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Presiding Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by a news outlet as remarking that the man sought attention, adding that he was mistaken to think he would not suffer any consequences.

Grande has not commented on the incident.

Cynthia Erivo mentioned the incident to the press, remarking that she "just wanted to make sure my colleague was protected."

"I'm sure he had no intention to us injury, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I wanted to ensure that she was alright. That was my first instinct," she said.
